The Technology:

- The maleic acid goes into the hair and forms a polymer which bonds together with the hair fiber.

- Make a mix of 1 part Brilliant Blondexx to 2 parts 20 Vol developer.
- The mix will form a smooth creamy white mix.
- Apply this to all parts of the hair which need lifting.
- Make sure you saturate the hair fully with the bleach mix to allow the hair to come into contact with plenty of the mix.
- If after 10 minutes the hair has not fully lifted to where it needs to be, make a fresh mix and re-apply
- Rinse when you get to level 10
- Now make a mix using the intense pearl blonde toner and 20 Vol Developer.
- The mix for the toner is 1 part toner to 2 parts developer.
- Apply to the parts that are most yellow first.
- Work fast. Your aim is to give the hair around 10-15 minutes processing time maximum.
- Rinse when done.

I followed the directions mixed 1 : 2 ratio and I have no complaints. My hair did not feel like straw either. Then come the toner which smelled nice and holy cow did it leave my hair feeling soft. I didn’t have this kind of results in a salon. I am hooked and I was on the fence but when my hair dresser retired I thought ok let’s give ugly ducking a try. I am so glad I found you.

I purchased the Brilliant Blondexx lightener with bond protect powder and 20 developer. This product lifted virgin black hair color in about a half hour. It became very warm while on which wasn't uncomfortable but made me nervous. I left it on for approximately 40 minutes total. This product did not damage my hair. After washing and adding my color, everything rinsed out well and my hair was as if I had never processed it. I highly recommend this product!
I have used ugly duckling for a few years now and I will never go back!! Their bleach does not cause chemical burns like most other brands can. Their toners are out of this world!!
