These are the best products especially for toning the shades of orange my hair always seems to pull. I've never had much luck with any of the brands from Sally's. The blonde shades with purple tones did absolutely nothing for my level. The double ash shades of dark blonde/light brown would be ok once the green tint washed out. Then I found this brand and it's worked perfectly to achieve the exact ash color light brown for me. I had been dying my hair dark brown for years and was trying to get back to my natural dirty blonde/light brown. Bleaching brought it up to light to medium orange. I went over it with Dark Cold Ash Blonde at the roots and mixed same dye with the Ash Blue Additive to pull through to the ends last 10 minutes and and it came out perfectly. The blue tones are really what I needed to cancel out my warmth.

I have naturally ashy dark blonde hair (highlighted), about 15 % grey. I started dying my roots to cover the grey 7-8 years ago and have been annoyed that every dye I’ve tried pulls orange (I’ve probably tried every 6 and 7 level ash or neutral dye I could get my hands on every way I could get professional dyes as a non professional). This is literally the ONLY one I have found that counters the orange and gives me the dark blonde shade closest to my roots that I’ve been looking for. I have tried to find a blue based dark ash blonde dye for literally YEARS (it’s amazing how hard it is to find a dye where the maker tells you what the base color is! Many ash dyes have a green base, which does NOT counteract orange tones effectively). I’ve tried using blue additives and basically creating my own dyes (I would NOT recommend this to people not familiar with hair dye chemistry or color theory), to varying degrees of success, but always with more brass/orange than I wanted. This is seriously a holy grail product for me.

Started doing my own roots almost a year ago; it took a lot of trial and error to find the right shade. Rich natural color that easily blends with hair.

I stripped 10 years worth level 4 brown dye out of my hair and it was literally pumpkin orange and around a level 7, a level 8 on top and a 6 on the ends. I didn't want to just go back dark so I tried a level 7 blue based ash blonde from Sally's which gave me orangey brown ends and greenish brown roots. Lovely. So I ordered this (6.1B) along with the ash blue additive after doing the color consultation on Ugly Ducklings website. I ordered from Amazon because I'm not a cosmetologist and don't have a license. This stuff is great. It left such a pretty neutral brown. The ash blue additive perfectly "toned" out any of the brass. Also it made my hair SO soft and bouncy and volumized. The Sally's stuff made my hair feel super dry and crunchy so that alone is reason for me to switch. This stuff is just vastly superior. I used to think hair dye is hair dye it's all the same but I guess not.

This color is perfect. I’ve been trying to find something for gray blending/low lights and this matches my base color perfect,

I was bleached and dyed copper before wanting to change back to my medium ash brown. I have hip length, wavy, fine, frizzy hair that loves to stay orange. I did a color remover a couple weeks prior and then dyed with this, 20 volume developer, the ash grey additive, and the blue additive from Ugly Duckling. Color came out wonderful. My ends that were more porous stayed bluish tinted for a day but then washed out. The color is not damaging and it really helps tone down the orange! Most all warmth is gone and I’m so happy after previously using Wella, Igora, and AgeBeautiful with poor results. I will definitely continue to get my color here!!

Doesn’t bother clients scalps and is a very accurate color line for those that know how to make a costume color.

Color looks great. It’s a little darker than what I thought but I think it will be the right color after one wash.
