How do you turn dark hair blonde?
It involves bleaching and toning, of course.
So you start off using Brilliant Blondexx Bleach and you apply, saturating heavily.
Brilliant Blondexx is good because it contains Bond Protect.
As a result, it can be applied on the scalp with vastly reduced scalp irritation.
Plus it won't lead to breakage. This is important when you are bleaching level 3 hair and trying to take it all the way to blonde.
But how do you tone dark hair after bleaching?
Very often, regular toners - which tend to be level 10 toners - won't cut it.
The reason is that because they are level 10 toners, they are extremely sheer already.
So if for example, you use them with a 20 volume developer, you actually end up depositing less pigment than you need.
As a result, the hair stays yellow and remains very imperfectly toned.
This is where Ugly Duckling Blondify level 9 toners come in.
They contain more neutralizing pigments then do level 10 toners and hence balance out the yellow more.
You can see the result in this video, where our stylist Ashly Betancourt uses Blondify 09V and 09N.
So when faced with very dark hair that you need to take blonde, bleach first to level 9.
Then apply these toners.
