How to cancel out magenta

Sometimes it happens.

You get a client (as we did) who walks in with magenta hair and asks to go blonde!

In this case, her hair had been colored a lot in the past.

And so when we attempted to lift out the magenta using bleach and color remover, we found that we could not lift it beyond a certain point.

Using the color wheel

This is where using the color wheel came in.

On the color wheel, green cancels out red.

So we mixed in some green along with our toners.

When you do this, you need to be careful with dosage.

About one inch of green to full tube of regular toner (plus the developer) is about right.

Green cancels out magenta

The result was amazing. The green combined with the toner succesfully neutralized the magenta.

And we were left with this stunning purple level 9 blonde.

You can do this, too, in your salon.

The more you do different things, the more your clients will keep coming back.
