- Ash Grey Additive remove red tones from brown hair.
- Ash grey additive contains ash and green and is a highly effective way to tone away red tones from level 4 and level 5 hair.
- Add in one inch of ash grey additive to one tube of any level 3, level 4 or level 5 color.
- We particularly recommend that you mix this with base/grey hair coverage colors and brown colors.
- Base is any Ugly Duckling color ending in N or NN
- Brown is anything ending in .7 or Br.
- The result will tone away red and produce a rich brown hair color result.

How To Use+
For best color results with Ugly Duckling Ash Grey Additive, follow instructions below:
- Mix in Ash Grey Additive is best used along with a level 4, level 5 or level 6 color.
- Mix in one inch of ash grey additive to one full tube of your level 4, 5 or 6 color.
- Ash Grey Additive will tone away red and leave the hair a rich brown.
- However, it will tend to darken your color result by one tone so you need to allow for that.
- Mix 1:1 with developer.
- Development time: 30 minutes.
- Emulsify and wash with a low pH shampoo.

Got back my natural ash brown color without the golden red tones
I kept having stylist after stylist tell me that it wasn’t possible to get my hair back to my natural ash brown color without the golden red tones. I did research and found this company and their ash grey additive. I mixed it with 6 vol developer and it worked!!! My hair is finally back to my natural color and I’m so thankful.

I was bleached and dyed copper before wanting to change back to my medium ash brown. I have hip length, wavy, fine, frizzy hair that loves to stay orange. I did a color remover a couple weeks prior and then dyed with this, 20 volume developer, the ash grey additive, and the 6.1b from Ugly Duckling. Color came out wonderful. My ends that were more porous stayed bluish tinted for a day but then washed out. The color is not damaging and it really helps tone down the orange! Most all warmth is gone and I’m so happy after previously using Wella, Igora, and AgeBeautiful with poor results. I will definitely continue to get my color here!!
