Your 10 most frequently asked questions about Bond Protect

1. Can you explain what exactly Bond Protect technology is in simple hairdresser language?

Of course! Bond Protect technology in haircare refers to a set of ingredients designed to protect the bonds within the hair structure.

Hair bonds can be damaged by various factors like chemical treatments, heat styling, or environmental stressors.

When these bonds break, it can lead to hair damage such as dryness, breakage, or dullness.

Bond Protect technology works by reinforcing these bonds, helping to maintain the strength and integrity of the hair.

2. How do Bond Protect products work?

All products containing Bond Protect contain something known as maleic acid.

Maleic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid which promotes inter-molecular bonding.

What this means in simple terms is that when applied to the hair, the maleic acid goes into the hair and forms a polymer which makes the hair stay together.

And this in turn reduces the chance of split ends and hair breakage.

3. What are the benefits of using Bond Protect products?

It makes the hair thicker, stronger and healthier.

The bonds stay intact in spite of pretty much everything: humidity, brushing, blow drying, repeated washings.

It's like adding an extra layer of protection to the hair to ensure that their clients can enjoy thicker, more voluminous beautiful hair.

4. What type of hair benefits the most from Bond Protect treatment?

Hair that is fragile in any way, thin, damaged or with with split ends.

Very often this will include hair which has been chemically altered through bleach, coloring and perming products.

In particular, any hair which has been extensively bleached, colored up and colored down and colored up should if possible be treated with Bond Protect products.

5. How should I use Bond Protect products while bleaching?

The ideal would be to use products containing Bond Protect during bleaching, which is a critical stage.

That is when the hair gets opened up and the color molecules are getting taken out.

It is really ideal to use a Bond Protect Bleach at this stage, as this will protect and fortify your hair before it gets closed up again.

If you use a bleach with Bond Protect, like Ugly Duckling's Brilliant Blondexx, this will happen automatically every time you bleach.

If you use a bleach which doesn't contain Bond Protect, you should add in Brilliant Blondexx mask in with your bleach solution.

6. I have fragile hair and dark roots? How should I use bleach with Bond Protect and tone my hair blonde?

Watch this video tutorial, the entire process is here:

Hair by Elona Taki

Make your mix of Brilliant Blondexx with 20 Vol developer and place gently on your regrowth area.

Brilliant Blondexx has good lift (up to 7 levels), and this hair is around level 5 at the root with a mid-length which is orange level 6.

So 20 Vol will be enough on virgin hair near the root.

The Bond Protect will protect this fragile hair as you bleach, and you will be able to avoid breakage.

Let the hair lift up to pale yellow. Then rinse, and towel dry.

Then apply your toner and you should be good.

We used Pearl Blonde toner 10V for this client's hair.

7. Should you use Bond Protect products during coloring?

That will also help and you should do so whenever possible.

Ugly Duckling is in the process of introducing Bond Protect into its toners.

All Blondify toners, for example, contain Bond Protect.

As these toners are also ammonia-free and deliver results in only 10 minutes of processing, this is definitely a gentle way of toning.

It is recommended for those who want a relatively non-invasive hair color refresh.

8. Can you show me the use of toner with Bond Protect?

Of course. Watch the video below:

In this video we are using Blondify Natural Ash Blonde toner 010.

It is a non-lifting toner with Bond Protect, and it is ammonia-free.

As you can see, it does an excellent job toning away brassy hair with minimal damage to the hair.

9. What about using Bond Protect as a maintenance treatment?

Blondify Shampoo & Mask

Brilliant Blondexx Shampoo & Mask with Bond Protect

We are in favor of this for any damaged or bleached blonde hair. We brought out Brilliant Blondexx shampoo and mask for that reason.

These products contain very high concentrations of Bond Protect and they can be used during bleaching (add in to your mix) as well as afterwards for maintenance.

We suggest that you use these products at least once a week for women if your have hair that has been bleached.

You will notice the difference, in softer, fuller, more voluminous hair with fewer split ends and less frizz.

10. How long does it take to see results with Bond Protect products?

Mask with Bond Protect - can be added into your bleach mix

As long as you use products with high concentrations of Bond Protect, certain effects will be immediate and you should notice the difference right away.

You can expect hair to be thicker and more voluminous, with less frizz.
